United Way’s Pink Promise United hosts 2nd Annual ACE Classic powered by Butler Automotive this Monday, August 24th

United Way of Central Georgia is excited for golfers and tennis players to return to Idle Hour Golf & Country Club in Macon this Monday, August 24th for the 2nd Annual Pink Promise United ACE Classic powered by Butler Automotive Group. The combination golf, tennis, and bridge tournament was supposed to take place at on May 15th, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing guidelines. To ensure the safety of participants, bridge will not be included in the tournament this year, but the United Way team has put many precautions in place to ensure the safety of participants and allow the fundraising tennis and golf tournament to go on as scheduled. The tennis tournament is for ladies only. The golf tournament will be open to men and women.

As a HUGE bonus this year, Butler Automotive will auction off the opportunity of a lifetime: The 2020 Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship. The live auction will kick-off following the ACE Classic golf tournament. The winner of the live auction will win the December 9th-13th two-player, amateur, 54-hole golf tournament entry set at Pebble Beach Resorts: Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Links at Spanish Bay, and Spyglass Hill Golf Course.  Proceeds from the auction will benefit Pink Promise United.

Last year’s ACE Classic raised $128,000 for Pink Promise United (PPU). United Way of Central Georgia started Pink Promise United to ensure women were given proper access to breast cancer education, screenings, and readings. Since the first ACE Classic and other PPU fundraisers, United Way has distributed $53,307 from Pink Promise United to pay for uninsured and underinsured women to have mammogram screenings through United Way Program Partners: First Choice Primary Care, District Health Department, Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic, and Macon Volunteer Clinic. As of the first Pink Promise United report, 92 woman had mammograms thanks to funds provided by Pink Promise United. Those mammograms captured 11 abnormal readings and doctors were able to respond to those screenings.

United Way hopes to raise $100k for Pink Promise United at the 2nd Annual ACE Classic on August 24th. Tennis will start at 9:45 am on the Idle Hour courts followed with a shotgun start for golf at 1:30 pm.
