United Way of Central Georgia Celebrates Volunteer United Week

In celebration of National Volunteer Month, United Way of Central Georgia hosted Volunteer United Week from April 17th to 23rd. Our community benefits from the time and energy of thousands of United Way volunteers each year in Central Georgia.

Volunteering with United Way means joining 1.5 million other people who are helping others succeed. During Volunteer United Week, more than 90 volunteers contributed nearly 230 hours to our community.

Volunteering not only helps nonprofit organizations fulfill their mission, but it also benefits the volunteers themselves. According to studies, those who volunteer may live longer and have a higher chance of finding a job.

The week of April 17th provided many opportunities to get involved in the community. There were opportunities to prepare meals for the residents of Crisis Line and Safe House, move outdoor furniture at Brookdale Resource Center, or assemble small gifts for the patients of Amedisys Hospice.

Our Volunteer United portal hosts volunteer opportunities from over 130 organizations in Central Georgia. The portal makes it easy for volunteers find upcoming opportunities, sign up, and track their hours. We offer corporate, civic, youth, and individual volunteer opportunities.
