BREAKING THE CYCLE OF FAMILY POVERTY.
Reading proficiency by the end of third grade is the most critical indicator of whether a child will graduate high school. However, nearly 69% of children in Central Georgia are not reading at grade level. Our ReadUnited program has a goal to have 90% of children at grade level within 5 years.
Volunteering is one of the most impactful ways individuals can get involved with United Way and make a true difference in our community. Whether reading to children, stocking shelves at a food pantry or delivering meals to home-bound seniors, we provide many ways to volunteer every day.
37.4% of families with children in Central Georgia struggle to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, health and safety. We are working with a broad range of partners to find and implement solutions that will positively impact lives today and into the future.
Transitioning from military to civilian life is a major challenge faced by our military men and women. Our Veteran Navigators work with veterans, active service duty members, and their families, connecting them to stable housing, job training, health care, and other resources.
