The $2 trillion CARES Act that Congress passed in March was designed to provide immediate financial relief to the millions of Americans impacted by the pandemic. While most people have already received these payments in the form of a direct deposit or a paper check from the IRS, millions more may not know they are eligible and need to take action to obtain their Payment.
If you haven't received your Economic Impact Payment yet, you may need to take action to get it.
The 211 Economic Impact Payment Helpline has partnered with Code for America's GetYourRefund program to help close the digital divide that prevents individuals from getting their stimulus payment. Individuals can have their EIP paperwork prepared for them by IRS-certified VITA volunteers by visiting here or calling the 211 Economic Impact Payment Helpline at (844) 322 3639.
This partnership enables the 5 million Americans who still have to take action to get their stimulus payment to receive needed assistance online or over the phone. Individuals who call the helpline for this service need only to text or email their photo ID to complete the process, allowing families with limited digital access to receive their payment. Interpreters are available to provide assistance in over 120 languages.
October 15th is the deadline.
Most people have already received their Economic Impact Payments by check, prepaid debit card, or direct deposit into the bank account used for federal benefits like Social Security or where your last tax return was deposited.
