First Steps Community Screener

Purpose:

The First Steps Community Screener is a critical link in the ongoing communication, planning, documentation, recruitment, screening and linking families to available services and resources through the First Steps program, based on identified needs of the family. The Community Screener and must possess skills to market the program, work with community partners, engage easily with families and children through direct interaction, ability to work independently, strong organizational skills, and experience in collecting and maintaining data using different worksheets (e.g. excel, word, etc.). The First Steps Community Screener serves as a vital contact between the community, families/caregivers and the United Way of Central Georgia; as the First Steps program serves as the entry way into the home visiting program, Parents as Teachers, which supports parents/caregivers and children.

Early Learning Resource Manager

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), or at least 2 years’ experience working with families.
  • and/ or social/community programs and have some marketing and sales experience. 
  • Must agree to and pass a criminal background check (including fingerprints)
  • Creative, responsible, organized, flexible, self-motivated and enjoys working in a collaborative team environment; values education and ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to adapt to changing environments and work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
  • Standard knowledge and understanding of working on a computer and Microsoft Office Suite

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Support
    • Screen families utilizing the Georgia Home Visiting Program First Steps screening for
    • Link primary caregivers with available services and resources, based on identified family needs.
    • Complete required First Steps Georgia training and any other training specified by service delivery partner (s) prior to serving families.
    • Survey families utilizing the First Steps satisfaction survey.
    • Complete data entry as prescribed by the Georgia Home Visiting Program framework in a timely manner.
  • Communication & Team Building
    • Relay information and respond to all communications from United Way of Central Georgia and community and program partners in a timely and effective manner.
    • Identify program challenges as they arise and work with program team and partners to resolve them.
  • Administrative
    • Coordinate, track, and monitor First Steps screenings, surveys, data. etc.
    • Respond to all e-mail, text and voice messages in a timely manner.
    • Effectively track and follow-up with program partners, families, etc.
    • Follow all United Way of Central Georgia, and program confidentiality policies.

 

Job Specifics:

  • Part time, approximately 17-20 hours per week
  • May require evening and weekend work on some occasions.
  • This is a grant funded position, with the opportunity to renew annually contingent upon funding.
  • The candidate must also have reliable transportation and be able to travel related program events.
  • Must be capable of working remotely in some instances.
