Sometimes it takes a team of committed people to deliver on the promise of improving the literacy of community children. This video showcases how students from Hutchings College and Career Academy and Stratford Academy worked with United Way of Central Georgia's Read United program and the Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunity Council to read to pre-K children at the Head Start program.
Read United, an initiative of United Way of Central Georgia, addresses the literacy challenges facing Central Georgia.
Read United recruits volunteers to tutor kindergarten through third grade students in reading. Through tutoring, volunteers help children increase their reading literacy, become a positive influence in the child’s life, and improve the overall health and wellness of our community. As this video shows, it takes a collection of caring people to give back to our children and people in our community.
