United Way of Central Georgia hosted the first ever Day of Action in Macon on June 29, 2019. Nearly 400 volunteers from across Central Georgia joined in the effort to help almost 900 families. The event was centered at LH Williams Elementary School in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood, but was part of the global Day of Action that took place worldwide. One of the largest draws to Day of Action in Central Georgia was the food box giveaway where the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank assisted with handing out 900 two-week food supply boxes to families in need. Volunteers helped with community clean-up, smoke alarm and light bulb installations, cemetery clean-up, a kids' field day at the school, baby shower and agency fair, and a free neighborhood cookout.
