The Campus Clubs reached a new high in students using its after-school and summer enrichment programs. More than 220 students participated with the biggest increase in middle school and high school children.
The Campus Clubs staff reported that 7 years ago, about 30 kids used the after-school program. Now? More than 150 children do.
Campus Clubs is a community development center that serves youth and families living in poverty with an after-school program and summer enrichment program.
Most students live in Pleasant Hill, a neighborhood with a large number of lower-income families and children in need of a helping hand.
The Campus Club is ramping up a project called "Bridging the Achievement Gap through Technology." The idea: Create a technology lab equipped with supplemental education computer software to serve 75 at-risk Kindergarten through 3rd grade students.
