Hundreds of Kids Get Mentoring

Did You Know?

Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Heart of Georgia matched about 330 children with mentors.

The agency reports that 85 percent of those kids stayed in the relationship for a year

A third of that agency's budget comes from your donations to the United Way of Central Georgia.

According the agency: "Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one to one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever." The agency has a number of goals including:

  • Making sure that 75% children served stay in school and pursue academic success.
  • 90% will avoid involvement with juvenile justice.
  • 90% of the youth served will show improvement in at least one major developmental category.
  • 80% of the youth served will show improvement in at least two major developmental categories.
