What We Know:
Self-sufficient families and individuals experience a better quality of life in their home community.
What Matters:
- Senior citizens receiving nutritional services improved their quality of life: 83% had improved nutritional health; 63.5% were able to live independently; and, because they had proper nutrition, 69.5% did not have to access medical attention or be hospitalized.
- Citizens with developmental and other disabilities improved their quality of life: 87.6% increased their community involvement; 80% maintained their independence; and, 75.5% demonstrated improvements in self-esteem and social and living skills.
- Citizens learn how to manage money more effectively, which makes them better consumers. On average, 93% of clients in financial counseling programs improved their knowledge of managing money.
