STAND UNITED
Sure, these are tough economic times. But we will get through this like we always do. Since 1922, United Way of Central Georgia has brought people together to help one another during times of crisis.
Together, we helped feed and clothe our neediest citizens during the Great Depression; we pulled together to help mothers and their children while husbands were fighting for America during World War II. More recently, United Way mobilized the community to help rebuild the lives of victims of the Great Flood of 1994 and the Mother’s Day tornadoes of 2008.
Throughout our history, central Georgians have stood together to confront challenges that harm our citizens and weaken our communities. It’s what we do; it’s in our DNA.
United Way and our 38 partner agencies are committed to advancing the common good in the 14-county area we serve. What this means is creating opportunities for a better life for all. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable and when people have good health. These results have benefits that ripple out to the community as a whole.
There are basic things that we all need for a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job; income that can support a family through retirement; and good health. United Way is focused on these building blocks for a better life.
• EDUCATION – Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential
• INCOME – Promoting Financial Stability and Independence
• HEALTH – Improving People’s Health
So, as we’ve done throughout United Way’s long history, we’re asking central Georgians to stand together to help our neighbors who have been hit hardest by today’s economy. Let’s stand together to continue supporting the vast number of services that are changing the lives of tens of thousands of our children, our seniors and many others who just need a helping hand. Please make a generous corporate contribution and conduct an energetic employee campaign. By standing together, we will see better days ahead for our families and our communities.
Sincerely,
Jim Manley
